It bugs me how Larry's all "I use normal types because they're plain and boring like me" because buddy. Normal types don't screw around.
Norman's gym battle was terrifying for me, even though my strongest Pokémon was a Blaziken-- aka, I had a type advantage, but my entire team was nearly taken out. I still fear Ilima's Smeargle because that was one of the only battles I ever lost in S/M/US/UM (though I still fear Totem Lurantis more). I see so much trauma from Whitney's Miltank. And Larry himself has defeated my little siblings multiple times, while I definitely struggled against him.
Being a Normal Type Pokemon means access to generally well-rounded stats and incredibly diverse movesets. Like, a water type can learn water type moves, but Furret can learn Surf, Flamethrower, Thunderbolt, Ice Beam, and Shadow Ball. I wouldn't call that very plain or boring.
Not to mention that god is a normal type.
Normal Types and Normal Type users are plain frightening.

list of my f/os who would ACTUALLY TOLERATE ME IRL: (note: this is based off which one of them can tolerate me when im hanging out with my friends)
-arven (it would take him a while but we'll get there) -avery (we'd make fun of the people who bully me ngl) -ilima (he'd probably get fed up after the fourth mention of skibidi toilet) -ga ming (HE WOULD BE MAKING THE SKIBIDI TOILET JOKES WITH ME) -kieran (he wouldnt get the inside jokes but he'd somehow tolerate me)
list of my f/os who wouls ABSOLUTELY DIE if they were in my vicinity: (again, based off which one can tolerate me with my friends)
-AMETHIO (he wouldnt even look my way bro) -SILVER (he'd bully me tbh 😔😔😔) SILVER WOULD CALL ME A SLUR TBH -piers (would probably mistake me for an eshay ngl)
overall: none of my f/os would actually be able to deal with me when im with my friends. our humour is too immature and all of them would end up dead if they were to interact with us. just a side note, we ironically say stuff like 'skibidi rizz' and 'ohio sigma' in a way of making fun of people who genuinely use them

"megazardx2: I’m so glad you enjoyed it, especially since you didn’t like the Gen 7 games much at all. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts!"
Then this is as good a time as any! Pokemon Sun and Moon anime thoughts, as much as I can stuff in there.
As mentioned in my last recap, the only history I have with the anime is vague recollections from the original seasons, and XY which we watched just before this. And of them, Sun and Moon pretty quickly got itself into top spot. I really like the friend group, and I think Ash works best as just some kid with the others. It feels much more natural to him than the big hero thing of XY, which was overplayed and frankly silly.
This hasn't really gone anywhere. The friend group remains the strongest aspect, I love them. Mallow's probably the favorite of the bunch, but there's not a single one I disliked. Lillie and Sophocles precious, Kiawe and Lana are hilarious, Mallow just vibes the hardest with how I am as a person so like...I get it girl. Even Team Rocket was far more tolerable this season, back to being mostly ineffectual villains with more mild goals and significantly fewer war crimes committed. Bewear helps a lot. I think the decision to swap out their old blasting off routine to Bewear's myriad entries was divine.
Nanu and Acerola had a great little arc. They were a ton of fun while present. I didn't really click with Olivia but she's fine. Same with Hala, who felt like he could've done more. I did wind up liking Hapu, which is very unexpected. Faba's alright, Wicke doesn't really do much, and I have many thoughts, none of them particularly nice, about Lusamine. That leaves the last two clusters.
Kukui and Burnet are a delight. They're adorable, they're hilarious, big fan all around. I am very glad they ditched Kukui's secret just before the final match, I don't know if I would've been able to stomach it through that. The Masked Royal thing was always a bit goofy, and this is naturally no exception. But their whole dynamic is cute.
Guzma. Ooooh Guzma. You got hit with the same bat as Lusamine. From a character in the main games with a lot of going on that you could infer, to...literally just some pissbaby loser who's mad he can't win. Dude, this is like the least compelling villain story. I do like the attempt to use Golisopod as a sort of showcasing of that same mentality, but it's a nice artistic touch on a generally bad approach. I do not like Team Skull at all in this. Or, for that matter, Ilima. Who I legitimately forgot about until this moment. Ilima just doesn't do much of anything. Oh, he's just soft-spoken and nice and talented and all the ladies love him. Sure. But he's no Ryuki. Who wins the award for funniest one-shot character in the series.
The Ultra Beast episodes were solid. I generally like the idea behind it. It's goofy, but it fits functionally. I don't strictly mind why they function in the way they do, but I'd be lying if I said the explanation being "It's the kid in Lusamine coming out" didn't rub me the wrong way given everything else about her character. Mostly I think what the anime nails are character moments. Sophocles getting over his fears and starting to appreciate battles, Mallow getting established as a talented chef in her own right with a strength in reading people's wants, Lana being...genuinely just talented at everything? Like, girl doesn't get enough time to shine because they often pass it off to Kiawe or Ash, but she's legitimately good at like everything they wind up doing.
The tournament was...interesting. I wasn't sure how much I'd like it, given how quickly they belted through top 16 and top 8. But admittedly? It works. It truncates a lot into the critical moments. Watching XY, the battles could be interesting, but often it's sort of a...going through the motions? Like okay, yes, Ash vs Sawyer was generally a good time, but there were plenty of matchups that amount to very little in the grand scheme. Ash vs. Alain, I would be willing to argue, is largely forgettable. Nothing all that interesting happens until the final Greninja vs. Charizard matchup, but I don't really respect Charizard, and I hate Ash Greninja, so it's not like I cared. But it's telling that the entire match and all the episodes in it could've been boiled down to about those 5 minutes with little lost in terms of impact or importance.
I think that's what Sun and Moon nailed best in this arc. The battles are just the parts that matter. Ash's Rowlet has one real rival, and that's Hau's Decidueye. Just do those two, and it's a nice, condensed fight. That ends kinda lame because man it really kinda feels like Hau should've won that, or they should've waited to call it a while so it didn't feel like taking something from him. Mallow has low confidence in her battling and tries to shy away from a battle she expects to lose, and Lana calls on her to make an effort. We only need the one Pokemon for that. Sophocles is learning to put his all into battles and wants to stand his ground against Kiawe, and again, we can do that in one. We need a showing of Guzma being a vicious trainer in how he battles, and boy do you get the point in the 1v1 with Lana. They do really well at linking up just the emotional connection part of the battle. Even in 2v2 matches this holds, as they quickly get to Kiawe's ace in Turtonator, and eliminate Scizor in two seconds for a story beat. It's well done! Even Kukui and Ash, which is a much longer fight, leads off the the big emotional showdown of Torracat vs. Incineroar, but both are recalled before a victor is decided leaving you waiting for the return and how that'll play out. Even after that, they manage to pivot into Tapu Koko vs. Pikachu, which was another battle that needed to finish (though I am slightly sad we don't know Kukui's actual sixth Pokemon).
The Pokemon just feel like they have real connections, not just within their team but with their rivalries. Which is...more than I can say for XY. Every major rivalry in Pokemon was Greninja vs. someone else's ace. None of that team mattered otherwise. They had cute dynamics, I really liked Hawlucha and Noivern. But what role did Talonflame play once it evolved? It ceased to matter. Why bring Goodra back? Ash just needed a sixth Pokemon, no other reason. Comparatively, when Naganadel comes back, it doesn't have a strict rival, but it's the first time it's battling and it came back through dimensions to see them again, and you get how much that means. This season did really well with connection and emotional impact for pretty much everyone involved, and it did it in a cute slice of life-y way rather than trying to big up drama to make someone matter. Which I generally vibe with a lot more.
I'm trying to think of other things to talk about but am kinda running dry. I'm sleepy, we did a lot of chores. The point is, Sun and Moon was really good. Big fan. Unfortunately, my wife and I discussed where to go next. And we have reached consensus. My wife never watched anything before this. And Journeys is more of a recap thing from all accounts, visiting characters and places from everywhere. So we will, unfortunately, be going all the way back to the beginning. I have acquired veto power over episodes if I remember them sucking shit. The original Kanto stuff is only two seasons, so hopefully this will go quickly, but from here it's sequential. I think the intent is to actually go through everything. Brace for impact. And salt. Because save for exactly five episodes I look back upon fondly, I don't know how I'm going to tolerate original Ash, or Brock and Misty.

So a while back, I think early into my ultra moon playthrough, i mentioned that Ilima was implied to have a dead dog ( herdier, I believe).
And now, when doing Mina's trail, he was said to be in Hau'oli cemetery. Like. Man.

Alolan Dusk 8
[It seems Ilima had done well to at least deliver the message in Iki Town even if he never made it to the others. Word traveled quickly as Aether found many people had gotten packed and ready by the time they had arrived. And with the ferry system up and running with a speed reminiscent of the old days, there's hope that everyone should arrive at the floating city within a few days. If they could wait that long.
The recent attacks weighed heavily on Lillie's mind as she and other members of the Foundation helped in going door to door to find those who hadn't heard yet. The president had promised they would give time for those not ready, but only so long as they could promise safety. Another attack like the one at the lab, and it would be time to leave.]
Lillie:
[Timidly goes up to Roark's house and tries the door. Nothing. She tries again, but after a moment, she realizes there's no sound inside. As she peers through the window, she finds the place is completely cleared of it's furnishings.]
Quips:
You won't find him here. [Lillie turns to him with a start, but the old man simply smiles.] You're looking for Roark, right?
Lillie:
[Soft hum of amusement] Kahuna Hau~! It's nice to see you in person again. [She comes over to the porch railing and folds her arms over the banister] I forgot this is just the halfway house, so I'm sure he hasn't lived here for years.
Quips:
[Moves off the road so they aren’t hollering] No one has for a long time now. Being alone out here with that creature on the loose, it’s just not feasible to live in. I haven't seen Roark since his mother fell victim. I think he's been living on Akala since then. [Ahem] You know, you don't have to be so formal with me.
Lillie:
I guess we have known each other a long time. [Tries to lower her voice as she knows there's people likely to pass by on either of the three roads that surround them.] Actually, that just brings up a bigger question. I know we took care of your grandson, and a few other Shadows at the time, but what did Alola do with the ones since then?
Quips:
Well, obviously we couldn't have them running around blindly threatening people. [Looks in the direction as he's sure she knows where] We've taken all of the ones we've found so far into Po Town.
Lillie:
Po Town?!
Quips:
[Shrugs a bit] As you said, it's not their fault they're in this state, and they're still human in my book. I thought having some semblance of civilization, or houses at least, might help them remember that… [Shakes off the sadness as he tries to keep up the authoritative tone] It's still a mess, but with Team Skull gone and the Shadows' destructive nature, it's not like the place could get any worse. Not to mention the high walls do good to keep them in and the curious out. [Glances back at her] Not that many would ever go that way besides me and Guzma now.
Lillie:
[Comes down from the porch, smiling a bit] Wait, Mr. Guzma is still okay?!
Quips:
[Amused as she runs up beside him. Maybe they can walk together back to Iki Town for the next load of supplies] Why wouldn't he be? The man is more hard headed than a Shuckle, but he means well. I had him working for me even before you guys left.
Lillie:
[Quietly as she looks back down the hill to the beach where an all too familiar landmark is missing.] We thought the same about Professor Kukui… [Timidly as she trots to catch up to the Kahuna and they start walking again] And more than that… You know my mother was one of the first to start acting so strange, and her and Guzma were the ones to accidentally unleash Necrozma in the first place. I guess with everyone else who's been taken, I thought he would have been long gone.
Quips:
[Curious] I thought it was agreed her case is different from the Shadows.
Lillie:
Yes, but… [She hesitates on explaining exactly why] there's still some definite overlap.
Quips:
Hmm… [There's a long silence between the two before the old man speaks again] I'd be lying if I said we haven't talked about it. A lot. It's possible that since he's been staying with me, and Iki Town has remained untouched, he's just lucky. But… sometimes Guzma thinks the wicked thing won't take him because he's not good enough for it. Or worse, maybe after calming down from its initial rampage when released, it's had the time to realize it should be grateful to him for helping it escape. Normally I don't like to talk about people behind their back, but these past few years, I get the sense he's been haunted by all this in a way that's different from the rest of us. Even if you did speak to him, it's unlikely he'll tell you anything.
Lillie:
[Saddened, but understandable.] That's probably for the better. Ilima told us that he thinks the monster has been targeting those who might know too much, so keeping quiet would actually be smart.
Quips:
[Stops short, and looks down at her in shock.] You heard from Ilima? The last we knew, he left Iki Town to go to Akala, but Olivia said he never made it. We've all been worried sick, especially after what happened to-
Lillie:
[Lifts a hand to cut him off] He made it to Aether. [Glances down as they wait for a man to pass by them on the road. She couldn't remember the town being this lively before outside of the annual festival. But with so many people around, it was best not to get into it.] That's all I can say.
Quips:
Ah. [Has his suspicions as to why, so he won't push it any further. Motions for her to step inside his house.] There is still the matter of the Shadows though. People are hesitant to take in the Pokemon we've found, but we've still had volunteers. The people are a different matter. It pains many to see their friends and family reduced to this state. Quiet and lost… I wonder if they even remember who they once were.
Lillie:
I'd like to think so. It's taken a long time, but I think we've made some real progress with Hau at least. He talks to himself sometimes… [shifts awkwardly] and perks up a little when Gladion or I come by so I think there's something familiar there. It's strange though. [Sinks down a bit] We can't actually have conversations. Even though it seems he's been slowly relearning things, he always seems surprised to see me. Almost like he forgot I'd been there the day before. [Gives the old man a halfhearted smile] But he seems happy. Even if lost in his own little world, I think it would do wonders to see you again.
Quips:
[While this should be good news to hear he's doing better after not being able to see his grandson for so long, the description also brings up the painful memories of why he left in the first place.] And the outbursts?
Lillie:
[The smile fades as she had hoped that wouldn't come up yet] Happening more frequently, I'm afraid. We don't know what it is that sets them off, but it always seems so sudden when he goes into attacking. Never at me though. With me, it seems when something sets him into action, he starts looking around for a threat that doesn't exist, and tries to break out of the room. I'm a little nervous about what will happen when we end up with more than one Shadow in a room, but the hope is that if we put the worst cases in isolation, we can maybe put those who are calm for the most part in groups.
Quips:
[Despite the bad news, he appears relieved] So you are planning to take them. And you have a place for them on board?
Lillie:
Those we can find, at least. We've tried to make room by clearing out all of our labs to just be holding cells. I know how terrifying it will be for everyone to live so close with them, but I can't imagine leaving them here. And like I said, they'll be out of the way mostly, but maybe… maybe having a safe space for families to reunite, even if just for a little bit each day, might help us all start to heal.
Quips:
[Places a hand on her shoulder with pride] We'll have plenty of time to figure things out once we start. I'm just glad to know we have your support since I'm not sure I could leave in good conscience if we sailed away with my family all in good hands, while knowing how many were left to fend for themselves. [He looks out the window with a bit of guilt. Watching all those outside preparing Berry crates and parents holding onto their children so they didn't get lost in the shuffle of moving heirlooms. To think after all these generations, he'd be the last Kahuna to run this ancient little village.] Lillie? Can I ask you a favor?
Lillie:
[Brightly] Anything I can do to help!
Quips:
[Pulls down a set of keys from the little rack by the door] We've still got a lot of work to do here. Would you try to find Guzma for me?
Lillie:
[She takes the keys and looks through the unique designs with some fascination.] He's not here?
Quips:
We weren't sure what the plan was for the Shadows, so he went to check on things this morning. We wondered whether try to somehow make arrangements for him to Fly back here regularly, or to just leave the gates open and pray. He took food and supplies over there, if it would do any good, but would you tell him to get back here? Knowing Aether has a plan, I feel we could really use his help here at home.
Lillie:
I can do that. Melemele seemed well prepared for our arrival, but Gladion and I had planned to visit the other islands just to make sure the others did too.
Quips:
[Impressed] My! You're a busy girl! Well hopefully I'll see you on board then.
=+=
Lillie:
[Finds Gladion passing the school and pulls him inside the gate] Thank goodness I found you~!
Gladion:
Wha-? Hey! What's this all about?
Lillie:
I got to talk to Kahuna Hau and he said all the Shadows they've found have been living in Po Town. [Holds up the key to the gates] And he asked me to go find Mr. Guzma out there, but-
Gladion:
Hold up. Guzma's still here?!
Lillie:
[Goes to answer. Shakes her head] I was surprised too. I'll explain on the way. The point is, since we know where they are and I'm going that way, I thought we should try to get as many as can loaded up while there's not too many people in Aether Paradise. Wicke is greeting people at the door and going over rules, so now might be the best time to take the Shadows downstairs without drawing too much attention.
Gladion:
[Nods in agreement] We'll need to tell Faba that we're taking the boat to Ula'ula and I'll call to inform Wicke about our change of location.
Colress:
Did I hear you say you're off to Ula'ula?
Both:
[Turn to see Colress approaching them from the school building]
Lillie:
[Innocently] Yes. We're going to visit Po Town since Kahuna Hau asked me to. That's not going to be a problem, is it?
Colress:
Not at all. I just stopped by here to gather some information, but the person I'm looking for should be somewhere on the next island. [Oh look, perfect timing. Haughtily] Are you also heading to port, Chauffeur Faba?
Faba:
[Glares at that voice] Your petty attempts to insult me won't work today. I-! [Freezes as he passes the gate, and turns to see the three of them all looking at him. Immediately turns his attention to Gladion.] What I mean is... I was… I was just looking for you two! I received word that I've got a long overdue meeting with someone on Poni Island and I won't be helping here.
Gladion:
[Uh…huh] You're in luck then. The three of us are heading to Malie City next. If you'll take us there first, we'll meet up with the company transport and you can go from there.
Faba:
[Mix of anger and dismay] But Ula'ula and Poni are in opposite directions!
Colress:
We could drop you off first, but then that would leave you without a boat.
Lillie:
[Raises a hand to quiet them all] Faba actually has a point. If we're looking at distance, it would be just as easy for him to take us back to Aether Paradise and we'll pick up an empty transport from there.
Gladion:
[Sigh] Might as well. [Looks between Faba and Colress and addresses them more sternly now] I assume both of the people you're meeting are eventually coming with us. I want a full report about what you find out when we meet back at the base this evening.
Faba:
[Sly grin] Of course, Mr. President. It would be my pleasure. And thank you, Miss Lillie for-
Gladion:
Save it. We need to get going. Just remember, everyone, whatever business you have is your business, but it needs to be wrapped up before sundown. Word here is that things tend to get worse after dark. Agreed?
Everyone: [Soft, more serious tone] Agreed.
~~~~~~~~
A/N: As we start to explore relationships in the verse after this point, I thought I should explain some things. This is after TPP:Ultra Sun, which in my timeline is about a generation or two after Sun and Waning Moon. "Quips" was our rival Hau in Waning Moon (we had a Lost Host who got decently far before the reset). Some *might* even remember him from my Waning Moon series. I had the idea thanks to Randomized Ultra Moon that Hala being tagged as Hau was just WM's Hau was all grown up. Same goes for Lusamine where this Lusamine never dealt with Nihilego like in Sun and WM, but they're not the same person. So on and so forth.
ಥoಥ: How are they like when they cry? Do they just stream tears nonstop? Does their nose get clogged to the point that it’s hard to breathe? Is it easy for them to speak when they are sobbing? Do they hiccup when they cry? (Ilima)
Tumblr media
ilima rarely has a ❛ big ❜ cry – he’s more prone to tearing up than fully crying, and that’s usually out of frustration or during a panic attack ! panic attacks were more common when he was younger, so now he usually only cries after a disappointment / loss / when confronted with his fear of failure, and that usually happens in private. distressing events are things he usually handles fairly well – he’s used to working with kids, so he’s learned over the years to keep his cool in difficult times. he can speak fairly well when he’s crying, but it’s not something that comes up often because he’s usually alone, or ( at most ) with smeargle when it happens.
the only other times he’s prone to crying are moments of sympathy / empathy. he can’t help it ! he’s very empathetic and can’t always stop himself. it happens in the same fashion as frustration crying: tearing up, and not overwhelmed to the point he can’t speak.
physically, he flushes surprisingly deep when he cries ! esp. given the fact that he’s not sobbing, usually, it seems disproportionate how red his nose / cheeks get – though it’s probably from self-directed frustration / embarrassment as it is the physical act of crying. he is occasionally prone to hiccups! and does, of course, get very frustrated with himself when that happens.
“We are rivals, May and I”
aka. Tia rewatches Kanto Grand Festival (probs some contestshippy rambling ahead)
May and Drew’s Kanto festival battle (and the entire episode) still manages to make me emotional. I still remember saying after seeing the Hoenn Grand Festival that Drew should have won in Kanto too, but honestly, this is how it was supposed to go. Drew, who was constantly one step ahead of May, pushed her to work harder, and I think May only started seeing herself and Drew somewhat equals after she beat him (properly) for the first time. She’s insecure even when Drew praises her combinations after the battle, claiming that Drew’s were far better, but it was still one step towards the right direction.
The battle itself was honestly one of the best contest battles in the entire series, but if we skip if, I love how May seeks for Drew’s approval (which she gets) before she starts to celebrate with Combusken. Drew is not a sore loser and he seems genuinely happy for May when he gives her a small smile. (I’m also glad he praises Absol in that scene because the poor thing certainly deserved it after what happened).
While, not gonna lie, I sort of wished Drew would have said something comforting to May after Solidad beat her, the scene in which her friends come to comfort her (particularly Max’s “you’re the best sister I could ever have”,  which gets more value knowing those siblings bicker quite a lot) makes me ;__; too.
Also, I’m guessing May got that rose she carried while saying goodbye to Drew during the party from him? I’d sure love to see that scene. And it’s adorable how May looks so worried when Drew doesn’t answer to her “see you at contests or something?” question right away but gets so happy when he’s finally like “yeah for sure” :’)
#one thing i noticed tho was that drew never 'officially' apologized absol for yelling at him#nor may#the episode just jumped right to the may vs drew after may beat harley#i think there should have been some 'building up' before it; like actually dealing with the fight#of course the talks may had with solidad and drew with ash and brock were cool#and drew DID praise absol and may after the battle#but i'm a fan of apologies and i think they could have used a bit more time on that#well; at least no one said drew was right (comparing it to the resent ilima vs the mienshao dude)#overall these kanto grand festival episodes are some of my faves in all of ag but another thing they could have handled better was#may vs solidad#solidad definitely deserved her win and that's fine#but again they tried to squeeze so many things in such a short time that#we didn't really have time to notice may actually made it to the semifinals when she already lost#i really wish they would have had at least one more episode for the grand festival#two more things i could mention about these kanto grand festival episodes (wow i have a full on rant on)#solidad telling may about her and drew's background and how drew started talking about may... ahhh so good#that little part tells us more about drew than most of the episodes he appears in#and max's "i don't think she hears you' or something like that when ash tries to say something to may#but may only notices drew#is a d o r a b l e#this ship is canon my pals#LOOK AT THESE TAGS OMG
In the animated film Atlantis (2001), Audrey Ramirez mentions that her sister is 24-0 and with an upcoming shot at the world championship. But to go 24-0 in women’s boxing without having fought for the title already would mean that she has fought next to no one on any of the sanctioning bodies’ rankings to make herself the mandatory. It’s also suggested, though never confirmed, that she may be a middleweight. Women’s middleweight is the 3rd shallowest division in women’s boxing, eclipsed only by light heavyweight and heavyweight.
In conclusion Audrey’s sister is not only a can crusher, but one so egregious that she’s essentially eclipsed that time future Bellator flyweight champion Ilima-Lea MacFarlane beat the crap out of that soccer mom. We are talking “foxy boxing” levels of mismatches. Shameful.
HC24: A FAN CLUB ?
Tumblr media
( KAHUNA VERSE / SUMO TIMELINE ). YEP, Hau gets a FANBASE just as he gets the KAHUNA POSITION. It’s no wonder considering that the man grew up to be a strong, handsome, ( & ) kind person ! Always ATTENTIVE to Melemele’s needs. What surprised everyone, however, was the roots of this group as almost all of it’s members were originally from ILIMA’S now dissolved fan club. The new KAHUNA stole Ilima’s SPOTLIGHT in a couple of weeks after being chosen by Tapu Koko ( & ) yet, he wishes they hadn’t exactly changed Ilima for him.
Truth to be told, Hau feels a bit OVERWHELMED by it but thankful at the same time. Although the Kahuna is GRATEFUL for the support, he’s not used to be the center of attention ( & ) in a more important note: Hau hates the stalking attitude some of them have taken.
There has been special occasions where they had stolen his iconic yellow coat, a piece of cloth EXTREMELY IMPORTANT FOR HAU (& one that he only entrusts to those CLOSE TO HIM), as a way to draw his attention. But the cherry at the top of the cake is the FAKE EMERGENCY CALLS some of them have done for random meet ups.
Pretending to be in danger just so Hau could either “save them” or pay them a visit. This is the type of examples that makes him wish he hadn’t exactly gotten this new type of attention, honestly, he DEEPLY HATES IT. Not only do they WASTE his precious time with false alarms but also puts BOTH PARTIES IN DANGER. Playing around with emergencies only causes him to get PRETTY MAD in a time record.
Aside from those bad apples, Hau treats them with dear respect ( & ) never fails to do his job as a kahuna ( & ) LISTEN TO HIS PEOPLE, protect them even if they do him wrong or try to steal a coat that is considered the MOST VALUABLE THING Hala left him.
ALSO: It’s important to mention that this “fan club” isn’t exactly a HUGE ONE like the ones from Galar. Imagine something similar to the one we see in the anime,a group of local random girls from melemele:
While you can use both mega evolution and z-moves in one battle ( I believe) of all of the Alolan cast, the ones I think that would actually use mega evolution is Ilima and Kiawe.
Ilima - went study abroad in kalos, so of all the characters, he already knew about it existence, at least on a basic level. His family is seemingly rich enough to buy him one or two, or he won some in a competition. I don't think he's a collector of mega stones or anything, and z-moves are always closer to his heart, but as someone who is interested in battling analysis, he is interested in the gimmick.
Kiawe - By pure chance imo. As in Ilima knew the guy had a kangaskhan, and gave him one of his prized mega stones as a gift. Given how Kiawe has the chance to use mega evolution in the battle tree, I think he ends up using it. This idea came to be when I realized that Ilima in the anime actually had a mega kangaskhan! I was torn between giving him that or mega lopunnys as a signature mega, but when I looked at Kiawe's battle tree roster and saw the kangaskhan I went " oh I can work with this". Overall I think it's cute.
Honorable mentions: Canonically speaking, Mallow can also use mega evolution, but I honestly wasn't sure if mega sceptile fully fits her. I was considering Mina for it too, with her having traveled to Kanto at one point and probably maybe stumbled across a mega stone. But again, I wasn't exactly sure how....Mina, that was. Let alone if she'd use it ( I keep forgetting my own lore for mega evolution, and let's just say the process of it is rough lol. So not everyone would want to wield it. )
